Gold Coast Eagle Distributing – Anheuser-Busch’s Total Contribution to Step Up For Students Scholarship Program Reaches $6.8 Million
May 7, 2013 | Sarasota, Fla. – Gold Coast Eagle Distributing, an Anheuser-Busch distributor headquartered in Sarasota, Fla., today announced the renewal of its commitment to the Step Up For Students Scholarship Program with a pledge of more than $3.4 million. This contribution brings the company’s total contribution to the scholarship program to more than $6.8 million.
Gold Coast Eagle’s continued support of the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship Program, which is administered by Step Up For Students, will fund more than 690 scholarships for low-income students in kindergarten through 12th grade, allowing them to attend a school of their parents’ choice that they might not have otherwise been able to attend.
“Gold Coast Eagle Distributing is proud to make a positive impact on the lives of nearly 700 Florida students through our participation in this program,” said the company President John W. Saputo. “Our company is committed to supporting the community through a variety of charitable organizations, and we can’t think of a better way to invest in our community than through the education of our children.”[/x_text]

Through the program, companies are able to receive a dollar for dollar tax credit for their contributions.
There are about 710 students within Gold Coast Eagle’s distribution territory (Manatee and Sarasota Counties) who benefit from a Step Up For Students Scholarship and 39 schools in the area that participate in the scholarship program this year. Statewide, there are approximately 50,000 students on scholarship this school year, with the number expected to increase to over 60,000 for the 2013-14 school year.
“Each year, Step Up For Students is able to provide more scholarships for the state’s neediest families, so that their children can have an equal opportunity in their education,” said Doug Tuthill, Step Up For Students president. “If we did not have the tremendous support from our partners like Gold Coast Eagle Distributing, the growth of the program would not be possible. We are thankful for their generosity.”
