October 9, 2013 | Tampa, Fla. – GEICO has announced that the company will be contributing $2 million to Step Up For Students, the nonprofit that administers the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship Program. This will fund scholarships for more than 397 low-income Florida students this school year.
On Wednesday, Oct. 2, the GEICO gecko and company representatives visited St. Peter Claver Catholic School in Tampa to deliver the good news. The school, which serves children in prekindergarten through eighth grade, has 120 students participating in the scholarship program this year.
“GEICO has a strong commitment to the communities we serve, and helping to provide educational options for underprivileged families is a big way that we give back,” said George Rogers, GEICO regional vice president. “We are proud of our partnership with the Step Up For Students Scholarship Program, and could not be more pleased to know that our contributions are helping Florida students gain access to the best schools for the way they learn.”[/x_text]
