The impact is undeniable. Combined, more than 116,000 students (2017-18 school year) benefited from the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship for lower-income families, and the Gardiner Scholarship for children with certain unique abilities. And to empower more students, Step Up has two new scholarships: The Hope Scholarship for public schoolchildren who are bullied and the Reading Scholarship Accounts for struggling readers in public school in third through fifth grade.
redefinED’s aim is to report and reflect on the way parental choice is transforming public education, moving beyond fractious debate to examine opportunities and challenges for customizing learning for every child. redefinED is published by Step Up For Students, but its writers and editors use their collective expertise to speak broadly and objectively about how an explosion of education alternatives, including magnet schools, career academies, charter schools, education savings accounts and vouchers, are redefining education.
