Do you have questions about the crosscheck process and how to navigate it successfully for your student? Below, we’ve put together some answers to questions you may have about a crosscheck:

Q: What is the crosscheck?

A: The crosscheck is a process that confirms your student is not currently enrolled in a public school. Only students who pass this check can be submitted to the Department of Education (DOE) for possible funding.

Q: Why is the crosscheck required?

A: The state of Florida requires verification that students receiving scholarship funding are not enrolled in public school at the same time.

Q: What do I need to do during the crosscheck?

A: If your student is in an active crosscheck, you must upload documentation showing they are not enrolled in public school.

Q: What documents can I submit?

A: You can upload one of the following:

  • A signed public school withdrawal form, or
  • A letter from a public school or district confirming your student:
    • Withdrew in a prior year, or
    • Is not currently enrolled

Q: When should I submit my documents?

A: You must submit your documentation before the crosscheck deadline.
Documents submitted after the deadline will not be reviewed.

Q: How are documents reviewed?

A: Documents are reviewed daily while the crosscheck is open

Each submission is given one of these statuses:

  • Cleared
  • Denied / No Response

Q: What does “Cleared” mean?

A: “Cleared” means:

  • Your documentation was valid and submitted on time
  • Your withdrawal date meets DOE requirements

Q: What happens next when they are “Cleared”?

A: Once your student is cleared:

  • They are submitted to DOE for review
  • Funding may be possible, but is not guaranteed

Q: What does “Denied / No Response” mean?

A: This status means:

  • No document was submitted, or
  • The document was submitted after the deadline, or
  • The document did not meet requirements

Important: If your document is denied, you may resubmit before the window closes.

Q: What happens next when the status is “Denied / No Response”?

A: If your student’s status is “Denied / No Response:

  • Your student is not sent to DOE
  • They are not eligible for funding

Q: What happens after the crosscheck closes?

A: After crosscheck has closed:

  • Late documents are not accepted or reviewed
  • Only students marked Cleared move forward to DOE

Q: What happens during DOE review?

A: If your student is Cleared:

  • DOE will review the submission

Remember, results may vary:

  • Some students are approved
  • Some may be held or denied

Important: Final funding decisions are made after DOE review and finance processing.

Q: How will I know if my student is approved for funding?

A: You will receive an email notification if funding is approved.

Q: Does “Cleared” mean my student is guaranteed to receive funding?

A: No. “Cleared” means your student was submitted to DOE, but funding is not guaranteed.
