Making the Most of Your Scholarship with ESA Flexibility
The Private School Scholarships are more than scholarships — they are education savings accounts (ESAs) designed to give families greater flexibility and choice in how they support their child’s education.
After tuition and fees are covered, any remaining funds in your student’s account can be used for a variety of approved educational expenses — all through your EMA account.
Compliment your child’s learning journey with eligible expenses like academic services, sports, clubs, extracurriculars, individual classes and testing. All designed to support their growth in and out of the classroom.

Marketplace – Three Ways to Spend ESA Funds
MyScholarShop® (MSS)
Your one-stop, pre-approved online store for instructional materials, curriculum and more--all without needing to pay out-of-pocket. Families can link to MSS by selecting “Marketplace” in the EMA Dashboard.
If you’re new, don’t worry! Access opens up about a week after funding.
Find Providers
Need a tutor, therapist, or another approved service? Use the Find Providers section to locate approved partners who can bill the scholarship directly, so no upfront payment is needed. You can explore providers by selecting “Marketplace” in the EMA Dashboard and then clicking “Find Providers.”
Just like with MSS, this feature is available only when there are remaining funds after tuition and fees are covered.

Reimbursements
If you’ve paid out-of-pocket for a qualifying educational expense and your student has available scholarship funds, you can request a reimbursement directly through EMA, our secure scholarship management platform.
Before making a purchase, we encourage you to review the Private School Family Handbook as well as our Private School Purchasing Guide to ensure your expense is eligible.
To make the reimbursement process simple and successful, we’ve outlined everything you need:

Set Up Your Preferred Payment Method
Families can choose to receive their funds by direct deposit (ACH), Check or PayPal. Follow our Reimbursement Payment Methods Guide to make your selection.
Submit Your Reimbursement with Confidence
Follow our step-by-step Reimbursement Request Instructions to ensure your reimbursement is submitted accurately to avoid any delays.
Congratulations! Be sure to monitor your email and your EMA account for any updates or requests for additional documentation. Please allow up to 60 days for your reimbursement request to be fully reviewed once all required documents have been submitted.
Just remember, reimbursements are tied to the school year in which purchases were made. For the 2024–25 school year, you may submit reimbursement requests by July 31, 2025, as long as the purchase occurred between July 1, 2024, and June 30, 2025.
