FAQ for PEP Survey
Do You Questions About the 2026-27 PEP Scholarship Transfer Survey, AAA Scholarship Foundation, or Your Scholarship Options?
Check out the questions below for guidance on your next steps and important deadlines related to your student's 2026-27 scholarship application.
When will my switch to FES-UA be completed?
If your student is currently in Pending Review, you'll first need to decline the PEP application and then contact the Engagement Center to request a switch to FES-UA by 5:00 p.m. ET on August 7, 2026. Once the switch request is submitted and all FES-UA eligibility requirements and documentation are met, the application will be reviewed under the FES-UA program. If the student qualifies for Quarter 1 funding, it will be included with the Quarter 2 funding distribution.
I declined PEP because I wanted to switch to FES-EO. What happens now?
Once your student’s PEP Scholarship application has been declined, you will have the option to accept the FES-EO (Private School) Scholarship for your student in EMA. If you would like to apply for an FES-UA (Unique Abilities) Scholarship instead, you must Decline the FES-EO Scholarship prior to beginning your student’s FES-UA scholarship application.
If I transfer to AAA this year, will I be considered a renewal student if I apply with Step Up again for 2027-28?
No. Students who receive funding through another Scholarship Funding Organization, such as AAA Scholarship Foundation, and later return to Step Up For Students would be considered new students, not renewal students. Florida Tax Credit funding, including PEP funding, does not transfer between Scholarship Funding Organizations.
I believe my income should have qualified me for income-priority. Can my application be reviewed again?
No. Income-priority determinations are based on the household size and income information available when the application was originally submitted and reviewed. If the documentation provided did not establish income-priority status, additional review or reconsideration is not available for the 2026-27 school year.
Can I update my income information after my application has already been reviewed?
No. Applications are reviewed using the household size and income information provided at the time of application submission. Income information cannot be updated for reconsideration during the 2026-27 school year after the application has been reviewed.
If I don't receive PEP funding for 2026-27, will I still be considered a renewal student for 2027-28?
No. By not receiving funding or choosing to decline a 2026-27 PEP scholarship, you will be considered a New student for 2027-28, not a Renewal Student.
If I consent to a transfer to AAA, will all of my students be transferred?
No. Only students currently in PEP Pending Review status are eligible for transfer consideration. Students who are already in Scholarship Choice is Confirmed PEP status are not eligible to be transferred to AAA. If your family has both Scholarship Choice is Cofirmed and Pending Review students, Step Up will try to keep families with the same Scholarship Funding Organization whenever possible, but only the Pending Review student could be transferred if funding is not available through Step Up.
