Do you have questions about withdrawing your student from public school? Below we’ve put together some answers to your questions about the documentation you’ll need to submit to ensure you are funded and what the deadlines are, along with other helpful tips:

Q: What students are required to provide proof of public school withdrawal to be funded for Q1 and/or Q2?

A: New students in first grade and above in a Scholarship Choice Confirmed status in EMA that have not yet been presented for Quarter 1 funding consideration are required to provide an approved proof of withdrawal from public school by September 15, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. to be presented for funding consideration for the 2026–27 school year.

Q: What document(s) can be submitted for proof of public school withdrawal?

A: Students previously enrolled in public school:

  • A completed Standard Withdrawal Form for Students Entering K-12 Scholarship Program. The form must be fully completed and include all required sections: the Parent Request for Withdrawal, the Public School District or Charter School Responsibility section (including the withdrawal date), and the school district or charter school administrator's signature.

Students NOT previously enrolled in public school:

(Please provide ONE of the three required documents.)

  • A letter from the student’s school district or assigned public school. The letter must include that the student has never been enrolled and a signature.
  • An email from the student’s school district or assigned public school. The email must include that the student has never been enrolled and the email domain must match the school district (i.e., @hcps.net).
  • A completed Standard Withdrawal Form for Students Entering K-12 Scholarship Program. The form must include the student information section and a school district or charter school administrator signature.

Q: How does the public school withdrawal date affect Quarter 1 and Quarter 2 funding consideration?

A: A withdrawal date on or before July 31, 2026, may allow consideration for Quarter 1 and Quarter 2. A withdrawal date from August 1 through September 30, 2026, may allow consideration for Quarter 2 only.

Q: Can my withdrawal from public school date be after the deadline to upload proof in EMA?

A: Yes, the public school withdrawal documentation can be dated in the future, but to receive Quarter 2 payment, it must be prior to October 1.

Q: What is the proof of public school withdrawal deadline, and what happens if the document is late?

A: The deadline is Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. ET. No additional documentation will be accepted after the deadline. Without approved documentation by the deadline, the student will not be presented for Quarter 1 and/or Quarter 2 funding and will not receive funding for those quarters.

Q: I completed the public school attestation, do I still need proof of public school withdrawal?

A: Any family that received an email requesting proof of public school withdrawal must still submit approved documentation even if the public school attestation was completed.

Q: Is this public school withdrawal requirement the same as the public school crosscheck?

A: This documentation requirement is separate from the public school crosscheck. Families should read any future crosscheck communication carefully and complete the steps included in that communication.
