BB Americas Bank donates $1 million to help Florida schoolchildren
Tampa, Fla.– BB Americas Bank has contributed $1 million to the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship Program, helping more than 120 Florida students access the education option that is best for them to succeed. BB Americas Bank is committed to excellence with social conscience, serving diverse communities with innovative financial solutions.
Since 2021, BB Americas Bank has funded more than 185 scholarships through contributions totaling more than $1.5 million to Step Up For Students, a 501c3 nonprofit organization that helps manage the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship Program. The program, which is funded by tax-credited contributions from corporations, allows families to use the scholarship for private school tuition and fees, instructional materials, curriculum, and other approved educational expenses. Florida students who are not enrolled full time in a private or public school can access the Personalized Education Program (PEP), which provides an education savings account (ESA) to fund the needs of those students.
“BB Americas Bank understands the importance of education,” said representatives of BB Americas Bank. “We are proud to continue our support of Step Up For Students and help even more Florida schoolchildren access the education that is best for them.”
BB Americas Bank celebrated its support of the scholarship program with a visit to La Progresiva Presbyterian School in Miami, where most students use a scholarship through Step Up For Students. BB Americas Bank representatives had the chance to speak with the Junior Class, all of whom benefit from a Step Up scholarship, about banking and the various careers available within that industry.
More than 380,000 K-12 students throughout Florida benefited from a scholarship administered by Step Up For Students this past school year. Scholarship values vary by grade and county, but average $7,800 and can be used at more than 2,400 participating schools. Since its inception in 2002, Step Up has awarded over 2 million scholarships, significantly impacting educational equity and access across Florida.
