What is a Hybrid eligible private school?
A Hybrid eligible private school is a private school approved by the Florida Department of Education to participate in the Hybrid program. Students attend the Hybrid eligible private school in person at least two full school days per week, with the remaining instructional time guided by a Student Learning Plan (SLP).
How can I find an approved Hybrid eligible private school?
Families can search for approved Hybrid eligible private schools in the Florida Private Schools Directory maintained by the Florida Department of Education.
Can FES-UA students attend a Hybrid eligible private school?
Yes. FES-UA students may enroll in a Hybrid eligible private school that has been approved by the Florida Department of Education.
What is a Student Learning Plan (SLP)?
A Student Learning Plan (SLP) is a customized educational plan developed by the parent or guardian and updated annually. The plan helps guide instruction, addresses the student's academic needs, and outlines how any remaining instructional time will be completed outside of the in-person attendance at the Hybrid eligible private school.
Who is required to complete a Student Learning Plan?
FES-UA students enrolled in a Hybrid eligible private school who attend in person at least two full school days per week must have a completed Student Learning Plan.
Why is the Student Learning Plan required?
The Florida Legislature requires a Student Learning Plan to address the instructional time that occurs outside of the student's in-person attendance at the Hybrid eligible private school.
Where can I find the Student Learning Plan in EMA?
Parents and guardians can access the Student Learning Plan in EMA:
- Through the My Students tab, or
- From the Parent and Guardian Dashboard by selecting View Student and opening the SLP Section.
What information is included in the Student Learning Plan?
Parents and guardians can select academic and personal learning priorities from the provided template and rate the student's progress. The plan serves as a guide for educational planning throughout the school year.
Does the Student Learning Plan limit what I can purchase with scholarship funds?
No. The Student Learning Plan is an educational planning tool and does not determine or restrict eligible scholarship purchases.
How do I pay for Hybrid eligible private school tuition and fees?
Families must submit a reimbursement request for Hybrid eligible private school tuition and fees through EMA.
Are Hybrid eligible private schools available in the Service Marketplace?
No. Hybrid eligible private schools are not currently available through the Service Marketplace for FES-UA students. Tuition and fee payments must be submitted through the reimbursement process.
Do I need to complete the Student Learning Plan before submitting a reimbursement request?
Yes. The Student Learning Plan must be submitted before a reimbursement request for Hybrid eligible private school tuition and fees is reviewed. If the SLP has not been submitted, the reimbursement request will be denied.
How often do I need to complete the Student Learning Plan?
Once the student is enrolled in a Hybrid eligible private school and the Student Learning Plan has been submitted, it does not need to be completed again during the same school year.
What are the scholarship funding requirements for students attending a Hybrid eligible private school?
To receive scholarship funding for:
- Renewal Students: Parents/guardians must accept or decline the scholarship by May 31, 2026.
- New Students: Parents/guardians must accept or decline the scholarship by December 15, 2026.
Families using scholarship funds for tuition and fees at a Hybrid eligible private school must complete the Student Learning Plan in EMA for the applicable enrollment period.
What happens if I do not complete the Student Learning Plan?
If the Student Learning Plan is not submitted for the applicable enrollment period, the reimbursement request will be denied.
