Teaching Children in Poverty

A Three Part Training Series

Emotional Agility

Examine your own mindset and develop instructional strategies that will help support the success of all students, especially those in your classroom who are growing up in very different environments than you did.

Implicit Bias

This session focuses on how implicit bias can impact your relationships with your students living in poverty.  Words of encouragement from a teacher have a significant impact on whether or not a student will continue their education past the age of 16 (Alcott, 2017).

Radical Empathy

This session focuses on how to change your own mindset about your students’ struggles and abilities through developing radical empathy.
