“She progressed like I’d never seen her before, and we were able to do that because of the Gardiner Scholarship,” Cecelia Elizalde said of her daughter, Valentina, who has Down Syndrome. The family used scholarship funds to pay for occupational therapy, eye glasses and a virtual tutor during the pandemic.

After failing nearly all his classes during his middle school years, Carlos got a second chance with a Step Up scholarship and graduated high school in May 2020. When reflecting on his high school experience, Carlos said “Private school is different. The classes are smaller…There’s not one teacher that doesn’t care (here).”
