1. A child entering kindergarten must be 5 by September 1
2. A child entering 1st grade must be 6 by September 1
3. A child entering grades 6-12 must have attended a Florida public school for the 2011-12 school year.*
*ATTENTION APPLICANTS: Great news! Governor Scott has signed a bill that now allows children entering grades 2-5 who have NOT attended a Florida public school for the 2011-12 school year to apply for the Step Up For Students scholarship for the 2012-13 school year. This means that K-4th grade students attending virtual or private schools or are homeschooled in the 2011-12 school year may now apply for the 2012-13 school year. The Florida public school requirement for children entering grades 6-12 for the 2012-13 school year remains the same. We are excited that more families will now have a choice.
